30 Nov How to Control Window Treatments With Your Phone
These days, phone apps can allow you to do almost anything: count the steps you’ve taken in a day, watch a favorite TV show while you’ve waiting in line, and even turn on the heat before you get home. So naturally, there are also a number of apps that allow you to control window treatments with your phone, too. Imagine closing the blinds from another room, or shutting the shades in your bedroom without having to actually get out of bed (or having them automatically open in the morning to make waking up a little easier). It can all be done with the right phone apps. Here are a few that currently work with The Shades Co.’s inventory.
- Hunter Douglass Platinum App. This ingenious app allows you to control your window treatments in a number of ways. You can create a time of day setting, so all of your window treatments are programmed to open or close at the same time, for example. Or, control window treatments by room, raising and shutting blinds as you choose. (Note: motorized or battery-powered shades are required).
- Lutron App. Lutron is known for its cutting edge smart-home solutions, and its phone app is no exception. Like the Hunter Douglass version, the Lutron app allows you to control your window treatments both from in and out of your home, as well as set programming specifications and favorite settings. Another cool function? The Lutron app also integrates with Siri on the iPhone, allowing you to turn in for the night simply by saying “Siri, close my shades.”
